Job Overview Shriners Children's, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center, has an opportunity for a PRN Operating Room Circulator, Pediatric RN to join our Surgical Services team.
This position is Per Diem (On-Call), Non-Exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $50.11 - $62.60 hourly. Compensation is based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities The RN Operating Room provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the operating room, performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe during surgery.
The RN Operating Room assists the physician in accomplishing the plan of care for the patient and to provide continuity between the patient care unit and the Operating Room.
- Functions as a circulating or scrub nurse as assigned
- Participates as a team member and assists in all activities of the Operating Room
- Records and documents all information pertaining to patient care and procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Assists in helping the surgeon and anesthesiologist accomplish a plan of care for the patient.
- Selects and prepares surgical equipment, instruments and supplies necessary for every surgical procedure for which he/she assists.
- Plans, implements, documents and evaluates nursing care to meet the patient's assessed needs.
- Assumes final responsibility and authority in the Operating Room when performing circulating nurse duties.
- Supervises and instructs other staff members in the Operating Room suite when necessary.
- Provides pre and post surgical teaching and follow-up to patient/family, as well as psychological support as needed.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Assists with clean-up of rooms between cases.
Qualifications - 2 years of operating room experience preferred. Experience preferred in pediatric orthopedics surgery.
- Must have a BSN.
- Must have a current nursing license in the State of Hawaii.
- Must have a BLS certification at the time of hire. PALS certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment per hospital policy.
- CNOR certification is preferred.
