South Operating Room (SOR) is a large 25-bed OR primarily an adult inpatient operating room with a small volume of outpatient procedures including: Cardiac/ Thoracic, General Surgery/Minimally Invasive/ Colorectal/Bariatric, Gynecology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neuro/neuro spine, Orthopedic/orthopedic spine, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Transplant, Urology, Vascular, Robotic (Urology/GYN/Oral), and Trauma. Surgical procedures on infants and children less than 18 years of age are also performed if the procedure requires specialized equipment found only at this location.

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics.

OHSU cares for acutely and critically ill patients in our Operating Room. We provide the latest evidence-based care and have a reputation for effective teamwork. Operating Room nurses understand the importance of their independent scope of practice and engage in dependent scope of practice decision making with the team. Operating Room nurses also provide patient and family-centered care for the full spectrum of illnesses.

Required Qualifications
n
n - Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
n - BSN preferred
n - Associate Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire.
n - Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
n - BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
n - BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
n - Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
