Vice President Product Management and Marketing- Roofing Ensure achievement of strategic, business and financial objectives for all lines of business within the Roofing Products Group by leading product management, new product development, defining pricing strategy, and driving go-to-market strategy of CertainTeed & GCP residential roofing products brand portfolio in the Residential Roofing market segment. Lead NPD by determining end user, contractor and distribution customer needs and developing new, innovative products and services, targeting “Industry Firsts” and, through “Voice of the Customer” activities and competitive benchmarking, partner with R&D and Operations to develop product line extensions. Develop volume and share goals by product line by region and track ongoing performance. Provide direction to sales, manufacturing, NPD, customer service, finance, and marketing to execute plans and programs. Drive product development projects in support of new business development activities for Roofing lines of business across all channels and geographies (U.S. and Canada). Accountable for managing overall product profitability for both existing and new product lines, as well as defining and tracking sales results for new product launches. Operates under minimal supervision, with wide latitude for independent judgment and entrepreneurial decision making. Is P&L leader with accountability for delivering targeted financial results and signing authority for customer agreements and business contracts within their scope. Is this job for you? Full product management responsibility for multiple product lines and hundreds of SKU’s: Develop strategic product plans (multi-generational product plans (MGPPs)) on an annual basis to guide & drive portfolio strategy and lead the process of socializing plans and resource alignment to execute. Partner with Finance and Supply Chain to monitor/deliver product profitability/productivity goals. Establish product price positioning and set pricing guidelines; adjust through product life cycle. Responsible for competitive and market research working with Product Marketing and sales team. Monitor competitive product developments and drive competitive benchmarking activities. Facilitate annual review process and make decisions on product line rationalization and provide suggested disposition on slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Accountable for specification review and approval. Manage and approve all product changes. New Product Development: Drive the strategy and suggestions on how resources should be applied to execute the vision of the business. Marketing – Responsible for all production activity (collaterals, samples, sales tools, etc.), and ownership of all projects. Leads product planning and definition to ensure the product delivers value to target customers, achieves portfolio objectives, brand positioning and channel segmentation/differentiation goals. Directs cross-functional product management teams to own and manage the product throughout all stages of the life cycle (conception, definition, development, launch, and post-launch activities, maturity, and transition). Assists in developing, executing, and meeting budgets and financial reforecasts for each RPG line of business with focus on business health indicators of EBITDA, ROCE and OFCF, and business health drivers of R05 Net Sales, R30 Margins, and R50 Operating Profit. Participates in monthly P&L meetings across RPG and individual line of business operating reviews. Directs team to work with NPD project managers to successfully develop and launch new products and line extensions in alignment with product strategic and operating plans, including: Development of product features, benefits, and performance specifications utilizing voice of customer. Managing within NPD process to ensure all required steps are properly executed. Providing signoff for detailed financial analyses on all new product decisions. Works with Corporate Marketing to develop strategies and tactics for successful marketing of products, including new product launches and repositioning of current products. Includes coordinating with Marketing to develop budget for product line marketing initiatives. Includes supporting the development of channel marketing strategy, annual marketing plan, sales support programs, and pull-through/demand generation activities to meet overall strategic objectives for channel market share, sales, and profitability. Works with Sales at all levels to drive achievement of sales operating plan for all product lines managed and provides Pricing Oversight for the high-value projects that are strategic to the roofing business and the EPS sales organization (Regional pricing strategy, Regional manager toll and dashboard, Price f/x margin guardrails and evaluation, etc). Directs Product Marketing resources in the design/content of training materials (for customers and CertainTeed salespeople) to support the product line. Conducts frequent customer visits to evaluate market needs and opportunities; participates in customer and TM councils and other ‘Voice of the Customer’ activities. Polymer science/technical background a plus. Requires 15 years of progressive product management, marketing, supply chain, and new product development experience with previous P&L responsibility. Background in consumer durables, building materials, or home improvement products industry highly desired. Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies a plus.
