About the job:
The RMA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the staff and operations of the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) department. This role involves managing RMA technicians, materials handlers, and coordinators, providing regular updates on project statuses, and ensuring the efficient processing and disposition of returned products. The RMA Supervisor will work closely with vendors, manage customer inquiries, and drive process improvements in coordination with Operations, Customer Service, and Purchasing teams.
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with an emphasis on Quality and Returns (or equivalent experience)
- Has 5+ years of related work experience, including supervisory/management experience across multiple locations
- Has proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, instant messaging) and knowledge of ERP/WMS systems (preferred)
- Has strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong relationship-building skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team, mentor, take initiative, delegate, and handle complex problem solving
- Has strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and meeting strict deadlines
- Exhibits passion for teamwork and celebrates both individual and team successes
- Upholds integrity, treating others fairly, honestly, and respectfully, while fostering trust within teams, customers, and the broader community
- Can adhere to attendance policies and requirements
What you'll do:
- Supervise RMA department staff, including RMA technicians, materials handlers, and coordinators
- Provide regular updates to management on project and workload statuses, including returns, repairs, upgrades, and pending volumes
- Respond to customer service inquiries regarding return options, charges, and instructions for returning items
- Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain effective staff performance in response to fluctuating workloads
- Work with vendors to obtain RMAs for returning products to manufacturers according to vendor and company policies
- Ensure consistent application of processes and procedures for effective product disposition
- Identify process improvement opportunities and coordinate with Operations, Customer Service, and Purchasing teams to implement improvements
- Facilitate team productivity and accuracy, and escalate complex tasks as needed
- Counsel RMA team members in work-related activities and career development
- Lead the hiring process, including reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions for the returns processing area
