The Job
As a Law Clerk in Commercial Real Estate, you will be a key member of a dynamic and innovative group of lawyers, clerks and legal support staff and will provide the highest level of service to clients. You will have the opportunity to cultivate your skills as part of a successful national Commercial Real Estate team, within Canada’s premier full-service law firm.

The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Conduct, review and report on title and off-title searches and other real estate related due diligence;
- Assist lawyers with commercial transactions, including drafting requisitions and documentation
- Review surveys/reference plans;
- Draft closing documents;
- Assist in closing, purchase sale and financing transactions;
- Prepare final reports and transaction books;
- Apply for and negotiate title insurance policies;
- Conduct a preliminary analysis of title defects or clouds on title;
- Work with the land registry office to address unique title issues;
- Organize and manage portfolio transactions
What you will bring to this role:
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk
- Knowledge of Registry, Land Titles and Polaris systems of title searching and registration, in both paper-based and electronic land registration systems; electronic database filings.
- Community College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certificate (or equivalent)
- Strong computer and electronic document skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Professional manner and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to process a high volume of documentation with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
