Job Summary: The In-House Counsel will play a key role in supporting legal and business operations. This position will collaborate closely with the Leadership Team to address legal challenges and responsibilities while promoting a culture of teamwork and compliance. This newly created role will serve as the primary legal support for all operations, with a direct reporting relationship to corporate headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal support in areas such as commercial agreements, labor and employment law, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
- Work alongside the Executive team, department heads, and external legal teams to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and compliance to the Code of Business Conduct.
- Assist in providing global legal support to various divisions, including corporate governance, joint ventures, and acquisitions or divestitures. Serve as acting secretary to management board and oversee corporate housekeeping matters.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on personnel matters, complex employee relations issues, and policy development.
- Ensure company-wide compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Review and advise on the Company's rights and obligations, draft and negotiate customer contracts, and mediate contract disputes when necessary.
- Manage the timely renewal of contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Qualifications/Skill
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience
- Ability to practice law in Ohio (required)
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws
- Familiarity with manufacturing, EPA regulations, and labor union practices preferred
- Solid understanding of the commercial and financial implications of business strategies
