About This Role

The Manager, Operational Accounting will be under the supervision of the Director, Accounting North America and will include the oversight of the North America Accounts Payable and Expense Reimbursement departments ("Spend Team"), including US, Mexico, and Canada. They will be directly responsible for various accounting closing and reporting tasks, inclusive of the responsibility of the performance and quality demonstrated by the Spend Team. They will work collaboratively with all levels of the business including North America management, GL Accounting Team, AP, expenses, external auditors, and various other employees throughout the business including expense submitters and approvers. This role requires full participation in department initiatives such as ensuring accurate and timely accounting closing, policy compliance, direct review of various accounting and transactional activities, performing key accounting analytics, and development and deployment of process improvement initiatives.

What You Will Work On

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Monitor all transactions within the Spend Team, confirming compliance with internal policies and procedures, governmental requirements, and accounting GL coding.
  • Drive adoption of fully integrated procurement processing across North America region, including recurring invoicing, supplier contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Ownership of the Mexico expense compliance process including record retention, reconciliation of government documentation, assignment of tax-related expense coding, etc.
  • Perform expense-related and other general accounting journal entries, account reconciliation, and account fluctuation analyses.
  • Produce ad hoc reports and analysis for management.
  • Directly supervise the Spend Team, including administrative actions such as check-ins, semi-annual reviews, and training/development.
  • Initial reviewer of all accounting results and month-end close procedures of direct reports.
  • Participate in the development and documentation of various procedures and controls to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Development and refinement of current operational processes with a global services mindset.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and preparation of required audit support schedules.
  • Assist in documentation and updating narratives relating to SOX controls.
  • Support Director of Accounting North America with large initiatives.
  • Recognize the need for process change, make recommendations, and follow-through with successful implementation and monitoring.
  • Other projects, as assigned.


What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • More than 8 years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge in directing the day-to-day accounts payable and expense reimbursement activities.
  • Experience working in a $500M+ company with multiple locations and able to handle large volumes of work.
  • Familiarity with public company policies, procedures, and internal control activities.
  • Experience working with international companies, including foreign currencies and intercompany transactions is a plus.
  • Strong technical proficiency, including advanced-level Excel capabilities.


What You Can Expect

  • Base Pay Range: $106,000 - $133,000
  • Other Compensation: Incentive Compensation
  • All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.
