Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Estate Planning Paralegal with a minimum of 4 years of experience in estate planning and related legal matters. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the estate planning process, excellent drafting and organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing client cases. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to handle sensitive client matters with discretion, and a commitment to providing outstanding support to attorneys and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related correspondence.
- Organize and manage case files, ensuring timely preparation and filing of documents.
- Conduct research on estate planning laws and regulations to assist attorneys in providing accurate legal advice.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to gather information, provide updates, and facilitate case progress.
- Coordinate the transfer of assets, including preparing deeds, retitling accounts, and working with financial advisors or institutions.
- Maintain detailed case records and ensure compliance with deadlines and applicable legal requirements.
- Support attorneys in preparing for client meetings and legal proceedings, as needed.
- Stay current on changes in estate planning law to provide up-to-date support and guidance to attorneys and clients.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in estate planning law.
- Strong understanding of estate planning concepts, including applicable laws in North Carolina and/or South Carolina.
- Exceptional drafting and organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and a team-oriented attitude.
