What Does a Week in the Life of the Industrial Engineer Look Like?
- Serve as the primary project manager for Lean optimization initiatives working with outside consultants and internal teams to reduce time in system and improve labor productivity.
- Develop and execute manufacturing process plans for emergency vehicle manufacturing and continuously improve processes and procedures using tools and methods such as statistical process control (SPC) and experiments.
- Analyze workforce utilization, facility layout, and operation data, such as production costs, production flow charts, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Support the Production department by providing input to help determine workforce requirements to support all current operations, expansions, and new product introductions.
- Partner with the Purchasing team when new raw material is introduced to our current process to ensure finished products' quality metrics are sustained.
- Improve manufacturing processes to support key quality metrics.
- Complete work improvement projects promptly by guiding operators and supervisors.
- Document and maintain operations guidelines, including policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Essential duties listed above are performed while encouraging a Safety First atmosphere and supporting safety initiatives at our Facility.
Secondary Duties:
- Operational responsibility in the event of an emergency evacuation.
- Participate in daily staff meetings
- Conduct Layered Process Audits
Required Education and Experience:
- Masters in Industrial Engineering
- At least 60 months of prior work experience in Industrial Engineering.
- Must have at least 5 years experience documenting and improving process flows and production efficiency in manufacturing.
- Must have at least 5 years experience reading and understanding blueprints for fabrication and machining and assembly drawings.
- Must have at least 5 years experience with process mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, and 6S Methodology.
