Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Commodity Buyer to join our procurement team. The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing commodities essential to our organization's operations. This role requires a deep understanding of market trends, supplier management, and excellent negotiation skills. The ideal candidate should be analytical, resourceful, and capable of building strong relationships with suppliers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Stay updated with market trends, commodity prices, and supplier capabilities to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and agreements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Cost Optimization: Implement cost-effective purchasing strategies without compromising quality and reliability. Continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
  • Contract Negotiation: Draft and negotiate contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure purchased commodities meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with inventory management teams to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, company policies, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports on procurement metrics, cost savings, supplier performance, and market trends. Analyze data to make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Commodity Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the (specific industry or sector).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ethical and professional conduct in all interactions.
