Job Description

A leading manufacturing facility in Rochelle, IL, seeks an Electrician/Controls Specialist to join the team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Electrician/Controls Specialist will focus on improving designs for existing machinery and facilities. This role will assist with the development, design, and execution of capital projects while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include overseeing strategic electrical projects aimed at enhancing reliability, cost savings, quality, and safety, as well as maintaining plant software and backups for MES and PLC systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant systems, analyze performance, and implement optimization measures to achieve safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness goals.
  • Study site conditions and collaborate with others to gather data and relevant information for upcoming projects.
  • Perform custom PLC and drive programming for Allen Bradley, SAF, and Rexroth components.
  • Address safety issues promptly, particularly regarding mill hazards, electrical systems, and programming.
  • Assist with specifying and integrating control devices such as PLCs, sensors, transmitters, transducers, relays, VFDs, and operator interface devices.
  • Prepare bills of material, purchase requisitions, as-built drawings, and specifications for approval by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Lead or assist site employees and contractors during construction, verification, and start-up processes.
  • Review project proposals, RFQs, and supplier bids, and provide recommendations to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain, monitor, and improve production control equipment (PLCs, drives, etc.) across the plant.
  • Manage records of all system software changes and communicate updates to relevant employees.
  • Work shifts as required.
  • Apply a strong working knowledge of ESA code.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in a relevant role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying drawings, with the ability to interpret technical prints.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Expertise in PLCs (Allen Bradley) and HMI systems (PanelView/Wonderware).
  • Reliable and predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
  • Commitment to promoting health and safety practices in line with company policy and regulatory standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
