In this customer-facing role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of conventional and high-performance brake discs for passenger cars and truck applications. The scope of responsibility spans the entire product development lifecycle from quotation, through design, development, validation, customer acceptance, series production.
Responsibilities:
Primary point of contact to OEM customers for the application project including:
- technical presentation content and delivery
- customer milestone synchronization
- customer expectation alignment
- prototype order status
- issue tracking/resolution/reporting
- critical item escalation
Planning and timely execution of all Engineering work products required to meet the master program timing and project gate reviews, including:
- organization/assessment of customer requirements and deviations
- Design/analysis activities: calculations, packaging, CAD/CAE requests, DFMEA
- Order and procurement of prototype test parts, internal and customer
- bench testing - DVPR/PVPR content, test lab requests and facilitation, test data review and approval
- customer engineering approval of results for PPAP
- organization/storage of project documentation at SOP
- management of technical product design changes throughout program lifecycle
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or comparable field
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience
- General mechanical aptitude
- High levels of initiative and resourcefulness; capable of operating with minimal direction.
- Excellent organizational skills, documentation ability, attention to detail.
- Goal oriented; ability to maintain the greater picture while operating in the details.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated cross-functional leadership ability.
- Structured approach to problem solving.
- Automotive product lifecycle / product development process knowledge a plus.
- Experience with PTC Windchill, Windows/MS, virtual collaboration tools a plus.
- Experience with castings, machining castings, or injection molded products a plus.
- Automotive braking/chassis systems and vehicle dynamics knowledge preferred but not required.
