As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing flight control systems for drones operating in the demanding upper atmosphere environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and lead guidance algorithms, navigation systems, and control strategies for stable, efficient flight.
- Create high-fidelity simulations to model drone dynamics and validate GNC algorithms across diverse flight conditions.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and aerospace teams to ensure seamless integration of GNC systems.
- Plan and conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, ground tests, and flight tests to assess system performance.
- Analyze test results, identify improvement areas, and refine GNC algorithms for enhanced operation.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for design, testing, and certification while adhering to industry standards.
- Manage vendor communication and sourcing of relevant commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems.
Preferred Skills & Expertise
- Proven experience in designing and implementing GNC systems for aerospace or UAV platforms.
- Strong proficiency in GNC algorithm development using MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python.
- Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques, such as Kalman filtering, for advanced navigation systems.
- Solid understanding of flight dynamics, control theory, and aircraft mechanics.
- Demonstrated experience with simulation studies and real-world flight testing.
- Hands-on expertise with software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and real-time simulation environments.
