Job Title: Materials Manager

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Materials Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of materials planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics in a manufacturing environment located in Illinois. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient flow of materials to support production schedules while optimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for materials planning and procurement to meet production and business goals.
- Manage and oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with production, supply chain, and quality teams to align material availability with production schedules.
- Negotiate contracts and build strong relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and reliable supply.
- Monitor and improve key performance metrics, including inventory turnover, material availability, and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Lead and develop a high-performing materials team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- years of experience in materials management or supply chain roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of materials planning, procurement, and inventory control best practices.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and supply chain management tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions to support operational goals.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
