Summary of Role: To lead the site team to ensure that the product portfolio is manufactured to the required quality, yield, throughput, cost, and in sufficient quantity to meet business needs, without compromise to health, safety, and environmental performance.

Role and Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Ensure all business activities at the site comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet compliance and reporting requirements and ensure completed work adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report all Health, Safety, and Environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Act in a safe and responsible manner at all times and ensure all personnel on-site do the same.


Role-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Establish a vision for the site and develop a strategic plan in coordination with business and corporate objectives.
  • Define and realize the manufacturing plan (short-term and long-term) and track performance with relevant KPIs.
  • Manage organization operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies across functional departments such as EHS, Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.
  • Create and foster a work environment conducive to safe work conditions and high employee morale.
  • Implement programs to ensure attainment of business plans for growth and profit, challenge the status quo, and motivate the team to raise performance.
  • Take full accountability for P&L.
  • Direct and oversee enforcement of personal and process safety programs and work safety standards to protect the environment, employees, and the company.
  • Address risk prevention areas including hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions; ensure compliance with RMP and PSM regulatory requirements.
  • Drive a performance-driven culture through the client’s Core Values.
  • Lead and direct managers, engineers, professionals, and administrative employees.
  • Conduct performance management of direct reports.
  • Drive profitability through control and leveraging of manufacturing costs, inventory, cost of goods, procurement initiatives, and vendor relationships, and use of automation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational management processes through the implementation of operational excellence principles.
  • Lead long-term and short-term planning, as well as execution of the annual capital plan.
  • Drive improvement with regard to plant equipment and other mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Lead and drive change processes and coordinate improvement projects/process changes (MOC).
  • Lead and drive sustainability initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant external stakeholders (local authorities, neighboring plants, partners, suppliers, regional networks, etc.).
  • Act as liaison with other functional groups and business teams within the wider organization to represent the plant.
  • Drive and support leadership across all other functions.

  • Take responsibility and ownership for learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members.

Specific Role Requirements:

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Chemistry.


Experience:

  • Proven managerial skills.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in production or plant management, or engineering, with five (5) years’ experience in a site leadership position with full P&L accountability.
  • Experience in process safety and risk identification & evaluation techniques; experience running an RMP/PSM facility preferred.
  • Experience in small-scale batch multi-step reaction chemistry preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, coaching, communication, and planning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal/written communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of standard budgeting and cost control techniques; ability to learn software packages quickly as required. Candidates with related SAP experience are preferred.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Ability to oversee large programs like Capital and make necessary evaluations and course changes.
  • Applicable knowledge with working in a Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing approach
