Network Security Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join our Infrastructure Team. This hands-on technical role will focus on the administration, automation, and maintenance of the organization’s network and security devices. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in optimizing systems and network uptime, enhancing IT investments, and contributing to the organization's overall technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the networking lead for the information security and infrastructure team.
- Serve as a key member of the organization’s Security Operations Center (SOC).
- Monitor and maintain the organization’s perimeter and endpoint security.
- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, IPS, WAF, load balancers, and other networking equipment.
- Troubleshoot and manage complex network and infrastructure issues, ensuring performance and capacity meet business needs.
- Provision and manage servers (2016/2022) in physical and virtualized environments.
- Plan and implement upgrades, patches, and the installation of new applications, security patches, and equipment.
- Take a proactive approach to monitoring critical infrastructure using tools and daily checklists.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system failures to minimize outages, providing root cause analysis for any incidents.
- Collaborate with internal and external technology departments and end-users to achieve project goals.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (1 week per month).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience (5+ Years):
- Network administration of Cisco hardware, including switches, firewalls, and routers.
- Supporting LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, IPSEC-Tunnels, MPLS WAN, EPL WAN, OSPF, BGP, and other routing protocols.
- Building and administering Cisco ASA firewalls and F5 Load Balancers.
- Maintaining and supporting Cisco Firepower and F5 ASM (WAF).
- Administration and monitoring network/system logs using Splunk or similar SIEM platforms.
- Experience with threat detection, network/application vulnerability scans, and PEN testing.
Experience (3+ Years):
- Supporting Microsoft-based infrastructure, including Servers, AD, SQL, IIS, and File Services.
- Supporting virtualization technologies, particularly VMware vSphere and Nutanix AHV.
- Implementing and managing security protocols for users, roles, and security groups.
- Managing end-user remote access solutions, including VPN, SSL VPN, and Citrix.
Certifications:
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in highly controlled environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, or insurance).
- Exposure to cloud VoIP solutions.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST 800-53, ISO27001, HITRUST, MARS-E, or SSAE16/18.
