The Quality Control Manager ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality products by overseeing and enhancing quality control processes. This role works closely with other departments to maintain product quality, address and prevent issues, improve productivity, and ensure compliance with regulations. Reporting to the Director of Food Safety/Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance, the Quality Control Manager is integral to the company’s success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee food safety risk assessments and implement necessary controls.
- Develop and enforce quality control strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Lead and mentor a team of quality control professionals.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, policies, and safety standards.
- Monitor and improve quality control performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality standards across operations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
- Partner with Research and Development to ensure new products meet quality standards.
- Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
- Participate in third-party and customer audits and manage corrective actions.
- Serve as a resource for operational issues, process improvements, and new product launches.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support team goal setting.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- 5–15 years of quality control experience in food manufacturing, including at least five years in a supervisory role.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science or a related field (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry).
- Experience implementing quality control strategies and driving continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with quality control tools, statistical analysis software, and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations for food manufacturing.
- Ability to perform internal and external quality and food safety audits.
- Preferred certifications: HACCP, PCQI, SQF, Allergen Control, Food Recall, and Root Cause Analysis.
