Position Summary


The Quality Control Manager oversees all facets of quality measurement, product inspection, and in-process testing. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that Quality Control staff conduct inspections accurately and in accordance with relevant quality documentation. Additionally, this role involves efficiently allocating resources to keep orders on schedule.


Essential Functions


Product Inspection and Testing:

  • Conduct testing of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with issued specifications.
  • Perform various inspections, including:
  • Physical Tests: Dimensions, hardness, drop tests, tap tests, net weight.
  • Visual Tests: Color matching, appearance.
  • Sensory Tests: Odor, texture.


Product Disposition:

  • Determine the final disposition of all products.
  • Approve or reject all product batches.
  • Manage product holds and dispositions.


Quality Control Documentation and Client Samples:

  • Convert product specifications into production line documentation, such as checklists and forms.
  • Prepare finished product documentation (e.g., Certificates of Analysis) for client distribution.
  • Coordinate pre-shipment sample preparation and delivery to clients.
  • Oversee the retention and management of documents and product samples in compliance with requirements.


Production Oversight:

  • Review and approve records/documentation for OTC products.
  • Monitor production operations to ensure compliance with specifications or requirements.
  • Perform line clearance and critical process parameter setup for production lines.


Staff Management:

  • Manage QC work schedules and ensure accountability for work hours.
  • Assign QC personnel to production lines as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for QC staff.
  • Oversee staff training, discipline, and morale.


Additional Duties:

  • Execute other duties and projects as assigned by management.


Job Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).
  • At least 5 years of experience in Quality Management, QA, or QC.
  • Proven expertise in Quality Management in cosmetic industry
  • Familiarity with Quality Systems, including GMP and GLP, in an FDA-regulated industry.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly, analyze information effectively, and develop alternative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of managing and developing staff.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
