Job Description

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building and equipment.
  • Supervise facility upgrades and repairs; handle minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks; coordinate major repairs with contractors.

Inspection and Compliance

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs; document and prioritize tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance requirements, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and safety surveys.
  • Conduct and document quarterly and annual fire sprinkler system inspections; coordinate with licensed contractors for compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies; report unsafe conditions to Senior Management.
  • Supervise forklift inspection reports; ensure safety items are repaired per requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with SCAQMD regulations, including quarterly paint booth manometer inspections.
  • Coordinate and maintain compliance with wastewater management.

Leadership

  • Plan and manage maintenance schedules based on manufacturing and facility needs.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel; delegate daily tasks and assist with completion.
  • Conduct formal and informal performance reviews.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement safety and plant maintenance improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts aligned with ISO Standards.
  • Track key maintenance metrics such as work order completion, PM effectiveness, and emergency work order turnaround times.

Inventory and Procurement

  • Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts to ensure optimal equipment effectiveness.
  • Procure parts, machinery, and services by obtaining RFQs from vendors.
  • Ensure contractors have valid certificates of liability insurance before services commence.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate annual inspections and load testing of overhead and jib cranes as required.
  • Maintain inferred testing of electrical systems (110, 220, and 480 VAC) per insurer requirements.
  • Ensure all safety systems, including office smoke detectors, meet UFC standards.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
  • Complete work order requests in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum 5 years of on-the-job training and/or completion of trade school.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot machine shop equipment, welding equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and forklifts.
  4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting manuals and blueprints.
  5. Physical ability to lift a minimum of 10 lbs and up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  1. Frequent walking, standing, and patrolling of the production floor; minimal computer and telephone use.
  2. Regular bending, stooping, and lifting tasks (up to 50 lbs).
  3. Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to forklifts, material handling equipment, and variable temperatures depending on external weather conditions.
  4. Occasional work in a business office environment.
