Operations Supervisor (Swing Shift)
Location: Thornton, CO
Schedule:
- The supervisor will manage a large team working Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, with some supervisory oversight of the overnight team
Compensation:
- Starting salary between $67,000 - $85,000 annually

Position Overview:
The Operations Supervisor will oversee and guide food production activities during their assigned shift, working under the direction of the department manager. This role involves leading day-to-day operations, ensuring effective monitoring of production processes, managing cleaning tasks (including clean-in-place and steam-in-place), media and reactor preparation, and optimizing productivity. The supervisor will also be responsible for training and educating team members on task execution and necessary certifications. This position focuses on fostering a safe and positive work environment, promoting employee engagement, and encouraging a culture of teamwork. Additionally, the role includes data collection, process troubleshooting, and supporting fast-paced, hands-on production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate and enforce process changes, safety standards, and best hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Supervise production processes and team activities to achieve daily, weekly, and annual production goals, meeting quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Provide training and leadership, motivating associates to perform at their best.
- Serve as the main point of contact for shift-related information, safety, production updates, strategy, SOP updates, and best practices.
- Operate and maintain production equipment such as vessels, CIP (clean-in-place) systems, and SIP (steam-in-place) systems.
- Demonstrate mechanical and technical expertise to operate and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Ensure proper assembly and disassembly of hoses and parts based on process needs.
- Safely manage and measure chemicals and cleaning agents for CIP and SIP processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Accurately document process parameters and performance.
- Uphold quality standards and safety procedures, including safe handling of chemicals and high-pressure equipment while using proper PPE.
- Train and mentor associates on equipment operations, process controls, specifications, and documentation.
- Advocate for a strong safety culture and high-quality standards.
- Foster associate satisfaction and retention through effective leadership.
- Participate in hiring, training, and supervising production staff.
- Analyze work processes and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or at least four years of relevant education/experience.
- Experience in food manufacturing, brewing, dairy, pharmaceuticals, or chemical industries preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilities.
- Proven experience in leading production teams.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to multitask.
- Sound decision-making skills and the ability to take initiative.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently lift and move 10-50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform other physical tasks in operational and administrative settings.
