The Role As the Director of Business Development, you will spearhead growth initiatives and lead business development strategies across FYI's federal contracting portfolio. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this high-visibility role drives new business capture, contract growth, and strategic partnerships. The position offers a clear career progression to VP of BD.


Key Day to Day Responsibilities


Strategic Business Growth:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to expand FYI's presence in federal contracting, with a focus on Human Capital, IT, and Data Modernization services.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with government decision-makers, industry partners, and key stakeholders to drive new opportunities.
  • Monitor federal budgets, acquisition trends, and policy developments to identify growth opportunities and adapt business strategies.


Capture Management:

  • Lead the end-to-end capture process for high-value ($10M+) federal opportunities, including strategy development, resource alignment, and proposal execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical, pricing, and proposal strategies to secure competitive wins.
  • Partner with the Proposal Manager to oversee proposal development, ensuring alignment with FYI's strategic goals.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of business development and capture management experience in the federal contracting space, including a strong understanding of federal acquisition lifecycles, contract vehicles, and agency-specific needs.
  • Demonstrated success in winning $10M+ single-award contracts and consistent year-over-year growth in active contracts.
  • Expertise in leveraging BICs, GWACs, Agency MACs, and alternative contracting models (e.g., OTAs, SBIRs).
  • Strong knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Shipley-based capture methodologies.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3+ years' experience driving business growth within Federal HR, IT, or related domains.
  • Proven ability to secure multi-award contracts as both prime and subcontractor.
  • Has successfully led capture, BD, and/or proposals for federal and/or state agencies that resulted in proven track-record of winning $10M+ single-award, full and open opportunities, or $10M+ awards as primes/subs in multi-award environments.


Certifications:

  • APMP, CAP, or Shipley certifications are highly desirable.
