SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for monitoring and managing online applications. The primary role is to ensure high availability of applications running in the datacenter. This multi-faceted position requires skills in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting various applications and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor, optimize, and manage UNIX/Linux OS, system hardware, and application performance.

Perform application upgrades and patches; identify and troubleshoot issues involving Tuxedo, Tomcat, and Apache.

Lead and coordinate teams during system/application outages to minimize impact.

Participate in project meetings, providing input from a systems operations perspective, and plan production launch execution.

Identify tasks suitable for automation and deploy automated processes to reduce manual intervention.

Manage corporate common network services, including DNS and DHCP.

Enroll users and maintain system security.

Conduct OS and application backup and recovery.

Participate in weekend coverage rotation.

REQUIREMENTS

Must-Have Experience

2–5 years of UNIX/Linux systems administration experience.

Strong system and application troubleshooting skills.

Ability to analyze system performance and trends.

Proficiency in writing mini-scripts in administrative languages (e.g., Tk, Perl, Shell).

Strong communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

Performs effectively under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

Strong time management and prioritization skills.

Competency in UNIX systems administration, including system installation, configuration, security fundamentals, and third-party software installation.

Desired Experience

Strong knowledge of web and middleware-based technologies is a plus.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, TRAINING

BS degree in Computer Science is preferred.
