Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Washington, DC - ONSITE


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, with expertise in GCP and AWS.
  • Develop and deploy tailored solutions to meet business and technical objectives, acting as the primary technical contact for platforms including Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, Active Directory, and third-party systems.
  • Produce high-level and detailed design documentation (HLD & LLD) to ensure smooth transitions between development and operational teams.
  • Manage internal systems, COTS applications, databases, virtual environments, and security systems, including multifactor authentication with tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, Big Query, Looker, and storage arrays.
  • Facilitate clear and detailed communication between business and technical teams to ensure alignment and understanding of project requirements.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for in-depth troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Implement standardized processes to proactively address recurring issues, coordinating resolution efforts across multiple teams.
  • Maintain a knowledge base to streamline issue resolution and ensure efficient operations.
  • Collaborate within a team to design innovative, stable, secure, and scalable next-generation Data Center network solutions.
  • Lead the design, delivery, and management of Windows, VMware, and Active Directory solutions across multiple US-based data centers.
  • Prepare and present executive-level summaries and proposals on technical solutions and their benefits.
  • Work with third-party vendor security tools that integrate with VMware and Windows environments.
  • Offer guidance on operational deployment and assist with troubleshooting and performance optimization.
  • Manage risks associated with assigned platforms and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with automation for monitoring, alerting, availability, and recovery systems.
  • Contribute in an Agile environment, adapting to changing priorities and delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for leadership and operational teams.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in planning, designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise multi-vendor, multi-platform networks.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to drive business requirements and prioritize work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; adept at working with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service to internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and project follow-through.


Technical Skills:

  • In-depth experience with VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon.
  • Proficient in Office 365 administration, including Intune and Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience with VMware vRealize suite.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or other public cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SAN, block storage, NFS, and VMware infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto, VMware NSX, and Arista MSS is a plus.
  • Expertise in managing Windows infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies, and domain trust relationships.
  • Knowledge of security architectures and technologies, with a focus on layered security and multifactor authentication.
  • Experience with Single-Site, Multi-Site, and Federation environments.
  • Familiarity with Cisco and Arista networking equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama software.
  • Certifications such as VCDX, VCAP, or VCP are highly desirable.
  • Linux experience is a plus.
