Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for all employees in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Review and verify employee time sheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related data for accuracy.
- Ensure the correct calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions (taxes, benefits, retirement contributions, etc.).
- Process new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status (e.g., promotions, salary adjustments, and benefits enrollment) in the payroll system.
- Maintain accurate records of payroll data, including employee information, tax withholding, and deductions.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings (federal, state, and local), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies or errors in payroll records or disbursements.
- Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll-related transactions.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, including paycheck discrepancies, deductions, and tax-related questions.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of year-end payroll tax forms (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).
- Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including FLSA, tax withholding, garnishments, and benefits administration.
- Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports and metrics for management review.
- Assist with internal and external audits as they relate to payroll, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed on changes in payroll laws, tax rates, and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and tax laws (federal, state, and local).
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, UltiPro) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and management.
- Knowledge of payroll tax forms, including W-2, 1099, and other related documents.
- Understanding of benefits administration and payroll deductions (e.g., retirement plans, insurance, garnishments).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
