Job Duties

As a part of our team, you will competently perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics. You will work in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, aligned with the policies, values, and mission of our organization. Your responsibilities will include:
* Performing all commonly conducted echocardiography procedures with a high level of competence.
* Executing transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three-dimensional imaging.
* Conducting intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms.
* Participating in structural heart procedures in the cardiac Cath lab.
* Handling complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms.
* Possibly orienting other staff to the department and performing specific procedures.

Job AccountabilitiesCardiac Sonography Services
* Perform a variety of diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations using established procedures to ensure optimal results.
* Operate complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.
* Ensure routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
* Assist physicians in diagnostic cardiac sonography and/or guidance imaging during invasive procedures.
* Educate patients on procedures, medications, or contrast media in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.
* Mentor and foster a constructive teaching environment for students and new technologists.

Administrative
* Perform general clerical tasks, such as answering phones and updating patient appointments.
* Retrieve, enter, and revise patient electronic health records (EHR).
* Update the laboratory information system (LIS) and radiology information systems (RIS).
* Prepare and complete accurate documentation related to patients, procedures, and exam charges.
* Inventory and order accessories and supplies to maintain established stock levels.

Safety
* Implement protection devices and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure (ALARA) to self, staff, and patients.
* Maintain a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each procedure.
* Inspect and calibrate equipment for proper operation and record quality control (QC) results, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.

Compliance
* Maintain strict confidence of all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) and protect all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
* Perform quality cardiac sonographic examinations in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures.
* Prepare, administer, and document medications and contrast media in accordance with state and federal regulations.
* Retain certification and complete mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.
