Job Summary
The role involves performing procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. You will operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, including scanners, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment.
Essential Functions
* Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient, referring any questions to the Radiologist before performing exams.
* Contact ordering providers when there are discrepancies.
* Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers and assist them with a brief explanation of the procedures.
* Prepare patients for procedures with full explanations and document on appropriate worksheets.
* Interview patients for a complete medical history and review EMRs to obtain pertinent clinical history.
* Record medical history on requisitions and correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
* Assume responsibility for the exam from the beginning until the completion of dictated results.
* Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols and record contrast type and amount as requested.
* Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed.
* Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images or measurements as instructed.
* Inform appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiate life support measures when necessary.
* Assist in "code blue" procedures during medical emergencies.
* Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile technique.
* Perform all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies.
* Obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
* Practice principles of radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members.
* Report malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
* Operate radiology computer systems, including entering orders and charging procedures/supplies, and document contrast administration in the MAR.
* Maintain assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion and assist other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
Skills
* Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies.
* Work involves walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling during normal operations.
* Requires mental capacity to understand the assigned area of clinical expertise or technology.
* Motor coordination needed to operate equipment, including various computer systems.
* Intact sense of sight and hearing.
* Required to use radiation safety, MRI safety, and proper ergonomics to maintain an effective, safe environment.
* Minimum of 1-2 years of experience required.
Education
* Graduate of an accredited two (2) year AMA and ARRT approved program in Radiologic Technology required.
* ARRT (CT) certification required.
* BLS (AHA or ARC) certification required.

Pay: $52.00 - $58.00 per hour
