Our client in Itasca, a leader in the injection molding industry, is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to join the team. This role will require you to work on 3rd shift, from 10:30 - 7 am. The role involves leading the injection molding and packaging operations and is a great opportunity for people looking to take the next steps.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Planning department to review and align equipment schedules and staffing levels with the production plan (daily, weekly, and monthly).
- Assign and prioritize tasks for the shift to fulfill production requirements.
- Identify operational challenges and lead hourly teams to enhance productivity and quality, ensuring departmental goals are achieved.
- Ensure all shifts adhere to inventory, material ordering, production reporting, and work order closing procedures.
- Work with Engineering to plan and execute capital projects related to the department.
- Address deviations in output rates, BOMs, and routing by collaborating with Engineering.
- Determine and coordinate staffing levels required for production needs weekly, including temporary staff management.
- Evaluate the performance of direct reports, provide feedback, and participate in hiring decisions.
- Manage administrative personnel processes, such as pay rate reviews, vacation requests, and attendance records.
- Ensure employee training aligns with corporate goals and requirements.
- Monitor compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and housekeeping standards.
- Identify opportunities for improving molding operations, focusing on tooling, machines, and methods.
- Provide guidance to Process Technicians on process-related adjustments and tooling or machine concerns.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- 5+ years of experience in an injection molding environment preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of injection molding processes and plastic part quality standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000, MRPII systems
