Mothership's client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support their team in Reno, NV. This position will provide essential assistance to department operations. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks to maintain laboratory efficiency, ensure cleanliness, and prepare materials for laboratory use. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

This is an onsite W2 contract position with duration of 6 months, and possibility of extension.

Location : Reno, NV

Pay : $18/hour

Schedule:

• Days: Thursday–Monday or Friday–Tuesday
• Hours: Flexible (6:00 AM–3:00 PM, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM)
• Training Period: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (for the first 2–3 weeks)

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned department areas.
• Sterilize and/or remove used laboratory materials (e.g., petri dishes, culture tubes, crates).
• Wash, sterilize, and prepare glassware for laboratory use.
• Manage basic documentation, labeling, and records-keeping tasks.
• Prepare and mail crates and serology kits for customers.
• Stock and restock supplies as needed.
• Prepare and distribute foodstuff and treatments based on client or protocol requirements (~4 hours/day).
• Perform cleaning, stocking, and instrument maintenance in the treatment room (~8 hours/week).
• Assist with colony filing, book management, and organizational tasks (~10 hours/week).
• Manage foodstuff delivery, organization, and storage (~4 hours/week).
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of safety equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).

Experience:

• 0–6 months of related experience (equivalent education and experience may substitute).

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Comfortable working in a lab environment and handling laboratory materials.

Additional Requirements:

• System/Network access required.
• Pre-employment screenings, including a TB test and respirator fit test, are mandatory.
