About This Role: The
Senior HVAC Specialist leads the installation, maintenance, operation, and repairs of the heating, cooling, and ventilations systems in a commercial environment. Essential Job Functions/Tasks: - Installs, maintains, and operates heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs complex HVAC issues related to electrical components, motors, compressors, and refrigerants.
- Complies with local, state and federal HVAC codes and safety standards.
- Assembles and secures duct sections, seals and joints, installs dampers and registers, and insulates ductwork to minimize heat loss or gain.
- Responds promptly to emergency repair requests, especially during extreme weather conditions.
- Orders and maintains necessary equipment.
- Interacts with clients to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Education/Training Required and Preferred: - High School.
- Must hold a valid EPA-approved section 608 Technician Certification of the Universal classification.
Experience Required and Preferred: - 5 years in the HVAC field at a Journeyman level.
What You Bring: - Must possess strong problem-solving skills to systematically diagnose control, system, and mechanical issues.
- Must have an advanced understanding of the principles of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration i.e. of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and psychometrics.
- Must have an advanced understanding of electrical systems, including basic principles, circuit sizing, and component functions, to safely work with HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VAV Systems, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems. The installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) is required.
- Proficient in utilizing building control software and familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Proficient in cutting, threading, bending, soldering, and brazing pipes and tubing for refrigerant lines, water lines, and gas lines.
- Strong understanding of control systems and their components, including thermostats, sensors, switches, control boards, relays, and actuators.
- Familiar with the different components of HVAC systems and their various stages, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers, fans, blowers, coils, valves, and refrigerant lines.
- Knowledge of duct design principles and installation techniques for air distribution systems. This includes assembling and securing duct sections, sealing joints, installing dampers and registers, and insulating ductwork to minimize heat loss or gain.
- Familiar with low-voltage control systems, high-voltage components like compressors and motors, and transformer operation. Knowledge of capacitor testing, grounding and bonding requirements, and compliance with electrical codes ensures safe and compliant HVAC installations and maintenance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, digital thermometers, pressure gauges, and data loggers.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record to meet requirement to be insured by company.
- Knowledge of programs such as Outlook, Work, Excel, and various building control systems.

The hourly rate for this opportunity ranges from $35.60 to $48.89
The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected hourly range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
