Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Correctional Psychiatrist to join our team at a correctional facility in Union Grove, WI . This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health of incarcerated individuals in a secure, professional environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric Evaluation: Conduct psychiatric evaluations of inmates, including assessments of mental health conditions and treatment needs.
- Treatment & Medication Management: Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications as needed. Develop and manage individualized treatment plans for inmates with mental health diagnoses.
- Consultation & Collaboration: Collaborate with correctional healthcare teams (nurses, social workers, counselors) and correctional officers to ensure effective treatment and care delivery.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide psychiatric crisis intervention when needed, managing acute mental health emergencies in the facility.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records of psychiatric evaluations, treatments, and progress notes in accordance with facility protocols.
- Patient Education: Educate inmates about mental health conditions and treatment options, promoting understanding and engagement in their care.
- Support Reentry Efforts: Assist in preparing inmates for reintegration by addressing ongoing mental health needs and offering recommendations for continued care post-incarceration.
Qualifications:
- Education & Training: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with a specialization in psychiatry.
- Licensing: Valid license to practice psychiatry in the state of Wisconsin.
- Experience: Experience in providing psychiatric care, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting. Prior experience with mentally ill inmates or individuals in high-stress environments is a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare teams, and facility staff.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries in a correctional environment.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation practices.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $160 per hour.
