Great Hearts Texas is hiring for an immediate opening for Reading Interventionist/Dyslexia Specialist at the Prairie View campus in Fort Worth, Texas!
The Reading Interventionist/Dyslexia Specialist:
- Teaches students identified with dyslexia using instructional strategies and an individualized, intensive, multi-sensory, phonetic approach.
- Monitors and collects data on student progress/achievement; Maintains confidential files, records, and documents
- Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Attends Section 504 meetings as the dyslexia representative
- Supports and/or conducts assessments for dyslexia under Section 504
- Plans and delivers small group or 1:1 instruction to students identified as at-risk in order to reach learning goals.
- Provides students with appropriate intervention instruction, learning activities, and experiences in the areas of reading to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
- Enables students to develop competencies to close educational gaps.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Reading, Literacy, Education, or a related field
- Valid Texas teaching certification in Reading, Literacy, or a related area preferred
- Master Reading Certification and/or experience delivering Dyslexia programming preferred
Experience: Three (3) years successful teaching experience

Special Knowledge/Skills :
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction; Understanding of the needs of early literacy, oral language development, and struggling readers.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instructional and Program Management
- Utilize student data to help teachers identify and group students who need additional support.
- Design intervention plans and monitor progress for students who are struggling.
- Maintain records of student work and progress toward mastery of skills
- identified in intervention plan.
- Maintain open and consistent communication about student progress, concerns, and achievement with families and the school community.
- Consult with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for addressing the needs of students.
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers with strategies, plans and materials.
- Participate in district and campus trainings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local policy.
