Position Summary

The Director of Growth and School Improvement maintains ongoing oversight of the founding GHLA campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and its continued improvement while also working with the GHA team and GHLA board to execute a regional growth plan.

Duties & Responsibilities

Headmaster Oversight and Guidance

• Oversee the development and accountability of 2 Heads of School
• Oversee the annual goal-setting process of Heads of School
• Oversee the development of a strong leadership bench for Louisianna
• Monitor and develop a strong faculty and student classical culture at the academies
• Ensure consistent and on-mission hiring practices, for classical academic performance and teacher retention

N.B. Before acting, Heads of School must coordinate with GHA and Superintendent on the following:

• Employee corrective action plans, PIPs, or terminations
• Any matter needing legal counsel
• Student expulsions or disciplinary hearings
• Threats to campus or criminal activity
• Questions regarding GH Policy

Academic Model Implementation and Success

• Ensure academic success of academies, including academic model fidelity, instructional quality, student support services, and academic outcomes
• Ensure the school improvement plan is on track and successful

Home Office and Resource Coordination and Support

• Ensure home office supports and best practices are deployed effectively at academies
• Foster collaborative relationships between school personnel and all home office teams

State and GHA Compliance

• Ensure all state compliance requirements and deadlines are met
• Ensure all GHA OPs and HR policies and practices are followed

Strategic Leadership of Expansion and Growth

• Coordinate selection and development of the next Great Hearts Louisiana campus and the resources needed to achieve financial and academic sustainability
• With GHA, the GHLA board and other stakeholders, including donors, spearhead the development and execution of a regional growth plan

Stakeholder Management

• Foster strong engagement of board, key funders, and other key stakeholders in positioning Great Hearts for successful and sustained growth

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: At least 3 years as an HM at a Great Hearts school or other extensive educational experience necessary to succeed in this role.

Additional Requirements:

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Louisiana Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance.

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various locations within the Louisiana area.
