Position Summary:

Provide leadership and management of the Program and Project Management function in effectively and efficiently executing intake and execution of departmental and enterprise programs and projects. Facilitate enterprise IT Steering Committee to ensure prioritization and approval of programs and projects. This role also leads/facilitates an enterprise change management program/process. The Managing Director of Program & Project Management is responsible for understanding the business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value streams, and business processes and their importance in solution delivery. The role collaborates with business unit and technology stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient solution delivery. This role also provides contemporary software development/delivery model (e.g., Agile) strategy and expertise. Team functions include: program management, project management, project coordination, program/project portfolio management, scrum masters.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Servant Leader, lead / develop a high performing team of Program, Scrum, and Project Managers that interact with company stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for enterprise-wide programs and projects, aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Lead and manage the planning, execution, budget tracking and delivery of major programs and projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and with the desired outcomes.
  • Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans, maintaining the highest levels of operational and financial control.
  • Lead and inspire a team of program and project managers, ensuring they are motivated, skilled, and delivering to their full potential.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, clients, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Track program and project performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), including financials, and deliver regular reports to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning within the team and the wider organization.
  • Develop, implement, and evolve a staffing strategy that efficiently and effectively allocates full-time/contractors and on-shore and off-shore resources.
  • Recruit, hire, train and coach and provide timely performance feedback to team members.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, innovation, and learning within the team and the wider organization.
  • Facilitates the evaluation and selection of program/project management software products, including time tracking.
  • Leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of program, project management and capacity management processes and standards.
  • Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable emerging practices.
  • Present complex topics and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills

  • Strong Experience at scale with program/project management methodologies and best practices including PMBOK.
  • Experience with program/project portfolio management
  • Experience with program/project capacity management that accounts for all stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with/strong understanding of product management, agile and testing methodologies, and processes.
  • Experience providing guidance to agile teams on opportunities, impact, and risks.
  • Experience with financial models (e.g., ROI) and budgets.
  • · Experience with digital transformation.
  • · Experience with Enterprise Change Management methodologies and processes.

Qualifications Required:

  • Credentials/Experience — bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 15+ years in IT with a minimum of 8 years serving as Program/Project Manager or PMO Leader.
  • Experience with Project Management Book of Knowledge (MPBOK), Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and Agile Methodologies
  • Must live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Preferred Credentials/experience - Masters Degree Preferred.
  • Certifications/Continuing Education: Project Management (PMBOK), Capability Maturity Model (CMM), Agile.
