Are you an experienced financial professional passionate about real estate accounting? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a knack for balance sheet reconciliations and accruals? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. This role will provide you with the opportunity to showcase your expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in our company's financial operations and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

As a Controller, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Overseeing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
2. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
3. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
4. Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting.
5. Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
6. Supporting month-end and year-end close process.
7. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
8. Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
9. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
10. Working closely with the management team to formulate the business's medium to long-term financial and strategic plan.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA would be considered an asset.
2. Minimum of 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
3. Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
5. Experience with creating financial statements.
6. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
7. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
8. Solid understanding and proven experience in real estate accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals.
9. Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries.
10. Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
11. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
