About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and oversee all fundraising activities for its nonpartisan, pro-democracy initiatives. The CDO will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive and strategic fundraising program to support the organization's mission of fostering long-term civic engagement and advancing the collective power of the movement. This includes managing a team of development professionals, working closely with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team, and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, including political fundraising, and a proven track record of increasing philanthropic revenue. They should be adept at strategic thinking, people and systems management, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Key responsibilities for the CDO at the company include establishing a strategic vision for development activities, personally managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors, and ensuring the integration of data into decision-making. The role also involves fostering a culture of continuous improvement, promoting donor stewardship, and maintaining a diverse and dedicated Advisory Board. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial self-starter with a passion for the mission and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They should be prepared to travel nationally as needed and be adept at leading by example with an adaptive leadership style. The CDO will play a central role in the organization's impact and longevity, and as such, must be dedicated to excellence, accountability, and the relational organizing approach to development.
