Job Summary
This position performs various laboratory tests, including waived and non-waived tests, in an accurate and timely manner. The incumbent assists with department compliance with regulatory requirements and assists with the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens.
Main Responsibilities
- Performs testing according to established policies and performance standards, exercising independent judgment and identifying appropriate resources as needed.
- Recognizes and ensures validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing, ensuring accuracy of test results.
- Ensures the appropriate use of supplies and materials, assists with inventory management, and promotes opportunities for improvements in financial performance.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external customers, participates in resolving communication issues, and demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements
- Must meet one of the following criteria: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation requirements.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy is required in some departments.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include MLT certification, basic knowledge of specimen requirements, and previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
