An evening shift clinical lab assistant is needed for our busy production style clinical reference lab. The hours are 11am-7:30pm, Monday to Friday, and weekend rotation as required. This role involves providing important diagnostic care for our community by performing various tasks.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position assists technical lab staff in collecting, receiving, and processing biological specimens. It also involves preparing samples for testing and performing waived or limited moderate complexity testing if CLIA minimum requirements are met or approved by the CLIA Medical Director. The role reports to department leadership and takes direction from higher-level technical personnel.

The following key responsibilities include performing all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist technical lab staff in collecting, receiving, and processing biological specimens.
• Prepare samples for testing.
• Perform waived or limited moderate complexity testing if CLIA minimum requirements are met or approved by the CLIA Medical Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Additionally, candidates must be at least 18 years old if performing phlebotomy.
• Progression through the career ladder II-IV is subject to completion of career ladder requirements.
• The position may require DHS Fingerprinting Certification or the ability to obtain fingerprint certification.
• Candidates must possess a valid state driver's license in the state of employment and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
• Phlebotomy/CLA certification as defined by state regulations is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
• Successful completion of a laboratory assistant program is preferred.
• BASIC knowledge of specimen requirements and handling is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
