Job Summary:
A leading Packaging Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to oversee legal affairs and support strategic decision-making. This role involves providing legal guidance on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and complex transactions. The Assistant General Counsel will collaborate with senior leadership and play a key role in shaping legal strategies that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the legal department and overseeing corporate legal matters.
- Advise on governance, M&A, commercial transactions, intellectual property, employment law, and litigation.
- Develop legal strategies that support business objectives while mitigating risk.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and optimize legal service use.
- Lead and mentor legal team members.
- Provide legal support to senior leadership, including board and committee meetings.
- Participate in strategic planning and corporate decision-making.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognized law school.
- 10+ years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house.
- Expertise in corporate law, governance, and compliance.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred: Experience in financial services, technology, or international transactions.
