Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician Specialist I will assist technologists in the preparation of beverages and conduct basic laboratory tests. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting data collection for ongoing projects, and ensuring all laboratory safety protocols are followed. The Laboratory Technician will also be involved in inventory management, equipment maintenance, and supporting laboratory operations to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Assistance:
  • Assist technologists in the preparation of beverages and execution of basic laboratory tests.
  • Help with data collection and processing for various ongoing projects in alignment with project goals.
  • Record Maintenance:
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of experiments, results, and observations.
  • Ensure that all data collected is documented properly and organized for easy retrieval.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and disposal of food samples and flavor ingredients.
  • Ensure laboratory operations comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Assist in managing the laboratory inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and materials are available for testing and experiments.
  • Track and report on laboratory supplies to ensure timely reordering when necessary.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and workspaces to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments as required to maintain optimal performance.
Job Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field is preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous laboratory experience (academic or professional) is highly preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to handle lab equipment and chemicals safely.
  • Good understanding of basic laboratory procedures and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) for record keeping and data entry.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to laboratory maintenance, including lifting, standing, and handling chemicals safely.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment that may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Schedule:
  • Morning shift with some flexibility in start time.
  • On-site position; remote work is not available.
