Position: HR Generalist I
Hours; Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Salary Range: $68,000-$73,000
Start Date: ASAP!
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle recruitment (screening candidates, scheduling interviews, onboarding, running background checks and drug screens, and new-hire orientation
- Assists in the development and revision of people operation programs, policies, and procedures.
- Working with assigned programs, develops staffing plans, strategies, and timelines to ensure competent, diverse candidate pools for all levels of recruitments, including executive recruitments.
- In consultation with the head recruiter, performs job analyses to determine qualifying patterns and the need for additional study or revision. Monitors and reviews screening and evaluation of candidates' qualifications and interview panel selection; certifies candidate lists.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts a wide range of studies, including large and/or highly sensitive organizational and classification studies that may involve multiple job classes and/or cross departmental lines. Participates in classification plan maintenance. Conducts audits of individual positions for assigned departments and recommends allocation of positions to appropriate classes. Plans and conducts job analyses to describe duties and responsibilities, minimum qualifications, knowledge, and abilities required for successful performance; analyzes and restructures series to establish new methods for career development; prepares or revises class specifications; discusses revisions with department and union representatives. Prepares reports and items for the Board's consideration.
- In consultation with the head recruiter in support of changes to classification and salary plans.
- Provides advice and support to operating departments in performance, discipline, and other employee relations matters.
- Conducts investigations, researches facts and past practices, and makes recommendations for resolutions.
- Performs research and analysis in support of the development of organizational initiatives and projects.
- Consults with department managers and provides staffing, training, and organizational analysis, and recommendations. Develops training curriculum and materials; conducts training programs or identifies appropriate programs and instructors.
- Performs analysis, maintenance, and complex reporting of employee data. Updates benefits, classification, compensation, and related human resources tables. Acts as liaison to technology staff to resolve problems. Participates in system implementations, upgrades, and changes; tests and validates system updates.
- Provides advice and guidance to departments in the interpretation and application of personnel regulations, policies, and procedures. Reviews and recommends approval of human resources transactions.
- Leads and participates in special projects and studies as assigned; conducts research and prepares and presents findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or Bachelors Degree (preferred).
- A MINIMUM of 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role performing increasing complex HR duties.
- MUST be well-versed in employee relations such as facilitating coaching, development and disciplinary actions, as well as conducting employee investigations.
- Experience working within Human Resources in a Non-Profit Organization (preferred).
- Must have a valid CA Driver's License & current vehicle insurance/registration.
Desired Skills and Experience
- A MINIMUM of 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role and a passion for the field
- Must be well-versed in employee relations such as facilitating coaching, development and disciplinary actions, as well as conducting employee investigations.
- Experience working within Human Resources in a Non-Profit Organization (preferred).
