Title: Lead Technical Architect

Duration: through 6/30/2023

Location: Albany, NY

Please be aware the role could include on-site work as needed; therefore, all candidates should be local to the area or willing to confirm they will relocate for this opportunity.

Job Duties:

1. Serve as NYSED’s technical lead for the modernization of the OP mainframe to a web-based Java system.
2. Have a strong understanding of continuous integration, version control, and workflows involving JIRA and Git.
3. Have a strong understanding of how to architect large Java systems using the Spring Framework stack.
4. Have a strong understanding of API-driven application development leveraging both client and server-side technologies.
5. Have a history of implementing projects with significant test coverage using Junit.
6. Have a strong understanding of Hibernate, JPA, Oracle, and Relational Design Theory.
7. Have experience leading Web Development teams by making architectural decisions after analyzing business requirements, assigning tasks to subordinates, performing code reviews, and overseeing releases.
8. Ability to ensure compliance with architectural decisions and develop a framework to ensure architectural standards are in place and followed.
9. Have strong interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, and have the ability to elicit buy-in from developers and customers. Can ride the organizational elevator.
10. Have the ability to understand the pros and cons of different architecture types with the ability to determine which type of architecture is best suited for the project and organization.
11. Understand the Atlassian Toolset, such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket.

Required Qualifications:

1. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree.
2. 10 years of experience architecting Java Web Applications leveraging Spring technologies.
3. 10 years of experience architecting Relational Databases.
4. 5 years of experience leveraging client-side technologies to interact with RESTful APIs.
5. 5 years of experience developing RESTful web applications.
6. 5 years of experience leading Web Development Teams.
7. 3 years of experience using the Atlassian toolset.
