We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler/Ontologist with extensive experience in retail banking to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, ontology development, and the utilization of graph databases. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data models, managing source-to-target mappings, and overseeing catalog management to enhance our data governance practices.

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Data Modeling: Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support business requirements and data analytics initiatives within the retail banking domain.
  • Ontology Development: Create and manage ontologies that define the relationships between different data entities, ensuring that they align with business processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Graph Database Management: Utilize graph database technologies to model complex relationships and connections between data entities, optimizing data retrieval and analysis.
  • Source-to-Target Mapping: Develop and maintain comprehensive source-to-target mappings for data integration processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy across systems.
  • Catalog Management: Implement and manage data catalogs that facilitate data discovery and promote data governance practices across the organization.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of data models with business goals.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for data models, ontologies, source-to-target mappings, and data governance practices.
  • Best Practices: Establish and promote best practices for data modeling, ontology development, and data governance within the organization.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on data modeling and catalog management tools and processes.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in data modeling and ontology development, specifically within the retail banking sector.
  • Hands-on experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune) and associated querying languages (e.g., Cypher, SPARQL).
  • Strong understanding of source-to-target mapping techniques and data integration processes.
  • Familiarity with data catalog management tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Apache Atlas).
  • Proficient in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, Lucidchart).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices is a plus.
