Job Summary: The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for conducting a wide variety of machine maintenance and repair tasks involving technical and mechanical skills within a CNC machining environment. This individual will support the facility manufacturing activities by ensuring equipment is maintained through the development and administration of a preventative maintenance schedule, performing impromptu repairs to machines in a timely manner, and supporting the installation, testing, and validation of new equipment and machines within the assigned manufacturing facility(s).
Job Duties: - Performs installation, building, testing, calibrating, and maintenance of electrical components of a variety of production assemblies and plant related equipment.
- Will perform preventive maintenance on both manual and automated equipment utilizing blueprints, technical manuals, or manufacturer specifications. This may involve electrical, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics systems.
- Responsible for the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment issues. Works with outside contractors as needed. Identifies opportunities for maintenance and process improvements, with supporting documentation.
- Recognize and perform machine adjustments to the various machine systems, operational interlocks, sensors, energy isolation systems, and other ancillary inputs to machine controls according to Company safety procedures.
- Analyze and determine corrective actions or repairs based on operational and trouble messages provided by Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) Display Monitors, CNC control panels or other similar display panels.
- Maintain certifications for calibrated equipment, maintenance documentation, machine history, maintain and update equipment manuals, component software, parament profiles, and all other appropriate documentation. Develop and/or refine training programs for new and existing automation equipment.
- Improve the performance of automated cells and equipment. Assist Engineering with installation, testing, application designs, modifications and validation of new production equipment.
- Clearly understand and follow all Lock Out Tag Out procedures, and Arc Flash requirements.
- Correctly identify replacement machine components, supplies, and suppliers. Make contact, make purchase decision based on cost and production needs, fill out requisition or make immediate purchase.
- Train all new mechanics and mentor current mechanics.
- Create work schedules for mechanics and direct the work during the shift or on off-shifts.
- Assigns and oversees daily tasks of the maintenance personnel and shares the accountability to the performance of these tasks in a timely and high-quality manner.
- Provides assigned team with guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Assist the Maintenance Coordinator in the creation of the preventative maintenance schedule. Will ensure that schedule is adhered to. Will track schedule and report updates to management upon request.
- Work autonomously to lead the maintenance functions of that shift, as well as other shifts where no lead is present.
Qualifications: - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required. Formal education in a technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance.
- Prior experience working in a lead or supervisory role.
- Prior experience working in a CNC machining environment. Must understand CNC equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams and machine design blueprints.
- Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, and be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, select, and install related components.
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing equipment alarm codes and malfunctions.
- Conduct each maintenance activity independently and with safety being the priority.
- Proficient use of MS Office
- Willingness to work overtime, as needed.
- Minimum one year of lead/supervisory experience.
