Title : Mechanical Engineer

Salary : $75k-$85k/yr.

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a leading player in the rail industry near University Park, IL. This is a great opportunity to to work with a company that allows for growth within the company.

Job Duties:

• Create mechanical systems to meet customer needs and project specs.
• Develop cost-effective designs based on project goals.
• Maintain project records in SolidWorks PDM and IFS ERP.
• Generate BOMs and drawings for manufacturing.
• Design, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Assist shop floor personnel and customers with technical issues.
• Provide technical support, including communication and occasional site visits.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers, and colleagues throughout projects.
• May require domestic and international travel for system startup and troubleshooting.
• Investigate and address quality control reports.
• Collaborate with vendors to improve product quality and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in structural, mechanical, and hydraulic machine design.
• 1+ years of railcar experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of Lean production concepts.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD.
• Knowledge of FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering.
• FEA experience (preferred).
• Hydraulic system design/troubleshooting experience.
