Senior Application Support Analyst - Halifax Job Summary
Job Description
What is the opportunity?
The Equity Derivatives Technology Production Services team is seeking a seasoned Application Support Analyst to join our team.
In this role, you will be supporting a suite of foundational data services that underpin the functionality of Trading, Pricing and Risk Management applications for the Equity Derivatives business. You will be accountable for driving platform stability and efficiency initiatives and will be a key player in our estate modernization programs.
We support a fast-paced business with rapidly evolving needs and requirements. Your ability to take ownership of requests and issue resolution, combined with a natural sense of curiosity and pride in a job well done, will help you to succeed in this role.
What will you do?
Investigate, resolve, and report on complex technical issues requiring business application understanding. Work closely with business clients and stakeholders to understand priorities and impact and provide timely and accurate reports to management and end-users on status of critical systems and processes.
Proactively monitor the health of our production environment, ensuring maximum system availability and platform stability. Actively collaborate with our Development and Technology Infrastructure teams to improve the resilience and maintainability of our systems.
Work on initiatives to improve operational efficiency of the team. This will include projects to enhance system monitoring and metrics capture. Leverage automation to improve day-to-day operations. Maintain up-to-date documentation (resolution procedures, operating manuals, run books).
Ensure compliance with cyber security, technology governance and de-risking initiatives. Plan and participate in disaster recovery exercises, address technology risk items and vulnerabilities across our estate, and help coordinate weekend maintenance activities.
Support the integration of new releases, bug fixes, patches, and configurations into production, including post-release checks and verification.
Note: as we provide 24x7 support to a global business, this role will involve regular evening and weekend rotational work.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
B.Sc. degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) combined with a minimum of 3 years’ experience providing application support on complex enterprise systems.
Strong foundational knowledge and experience with key technologies: Unix and Windows server management, database administration, network load balancing, real-time monitoring tools, job scheduling software, and one or more scripting languages.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Nice-to-have:
Experience with ServiceNow, ITRS Geneos, BMC Control-M, and Tableau.
Experience with supporting cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure), Continuous Integration and Platform-as-a-Service tools (e.g. Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes), and message-oriented middleware (e.g. Solace).
Familiarity with SRE concepts and/or the ITIL methodology, and related best practices as they pertain to application support.
What's in it for you?
We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable.
Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
Ability to make a difference and lasting impact.
Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
