n - We are seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with current Maryland State licensure to manage the local Associate Sample Collection Program (ASCP) and perform sample HCP-related sample collection, which includes collection of throat and nasopharyngeal (NP) swabs, from healthy volunteers participating in ASCP.
n - The ASCP is a volunteer program whereby client associates donate clinical specimens to support client diagnostic assay development.
n - These specimens are a valuable resource for the R&D product development teams in that they mimic real patient specimens.
n - The ASCP is run under an IRB-approved protocol whereby all patients are consented and all samples are de-identified prior to use for product development purposes.
n - The successful candidate will manage and run the ASCP program and will also perform nasopharyngeal and throat swab specimen collection at mutually agreed upon times (usually 2-3 hours duration) on an as needed basis (typically 2 days/week).

Additional tasks required:

n - Primary responsibility will be to manage and oversee the day to day activities of the ASCP for the Baltimore campus
n - Prepare Sample-collection Kits for self-collected samples by sample donors – instructions will be provided.
n - Help sending recruitment/scheduling emails to the potential/consented study participants to recruit them or schedule weekly collection activities.
n - Pickup and Drop-off the new and used kits from designated spots in 5 building locations within 1-2 miles distance.
n - After picking up the used kits with self-collected samples in them along with the collection log, able to reconcile them
n - Reconciling samples involves reading the one-page collection logs and cross-checking them for consenting status, proper documentation by subjects, etc.
n - Adding some notes on these collection logs, based on their findings and putting them in order to provide them to the site-coordinator.
n - Help communicate with the subjects about any errors in documentation for correction, and/or missing consent and follow through with actions, as trained.
n - Separating the samples from this identifying document i.e. collection log (de-identifying) and put them together and either provide these samples to the teams, or store them in refrigerator or freezer, as directed.
n - Provide support inputting the data from the collection activities into the ASCP electronic database and secure servers.
n - Consent and Enroll new participants into the collection program
n - Prepare a schedule for daily/weekly collections and work closely with study staff
n - Set up appointments and keep track of all re-screening activities
n - Help prepare documentation for collections (i.e. source documents, recruitment and collection-specific emails, Informed Consents, participation forms, etc.)
n - Reconcile all collections each day
n - Perform Payment activities
n - Help tracking and filing all the relevant documents for records in the site’s study binders and electronic files.
n - Manage site-level activities to run the program and liaise with other client sites, as assigned and needed.
n - Candidate be provided with access and training for all the above-mentioned duties.
n - Initial training will be provided by on-site staff but thereafter the LPN will work independently with the ASCP staff to execute their duties.

Qualifications:

n - Minimum qualifications are LPN certificate or degree qualification plus a minimum of one year of practical nursing experience.
n - Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
n - Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
n - Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required as the candidate will be the primary contact for the Baltimore campus ASCP.
n - Phlebotomy experience considered a plus as candidate could also assist with occasional blood collections.
