Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee the installation and coordination of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, on commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in mechanical construction, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Leadership:
- Manage day-to-day operations of mechanical construction activities on job sites.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and general contractors to meet project goals.
- Project Execution:
- Ensure mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) are installed according to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and delays are mitigated.
- Proactively identify and resolve conflicts, issues, and challenges on-site.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, industry standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor the installation of mechanical systems to ensure adherence to design and workmanship standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of systems, addressing deficiencies promptly.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the project team, subcontractors, and clients.
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports, including updates on schedules, safety, and potential issues.
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate solutions to on-site challenges.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-8 years of experience as a Superintendent in mechanical construction, specializing in HVAC, plumbing, or piping systems.
- Proven experience managing mechanical scopes on commercial and/or industrial projects.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC ductwork, hydronics, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal.
- Familiarity with mechanical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with project stakeholders.
- Proficient in construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
- Additional safety certifications are a plus.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
