What We Are Seeking

Reporting to the CFO, Partner, the Human Resources (HR) Director oversees all aspects of human resources practices and strategies. This role aligns HR initiatives with business objectives, fosters a positive workplace culture, and ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Director leads the HR and Administration team and partners with leadership to attract, develop, and retain top talent. This role can be based out of Calgary or Toronto.


HR Program Management, Delivery and Advisor

  • Responsible for building and fostering strong working relationships with the Partnership and management across 4 studios, providing objective and strategic advisory and guidance on all HR strategies and programs.
  • Responsible for managing the National Administration and Human Resources team (5).
  • Act as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value-added services for the company's benefit.
  • Establishing and delivering HR programs in alignment with national and local business objectives, focusing on cultivating a high-performing and engaging culture.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure regulatory compliance and competitive market position.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to maintain core values, and ensure that all decisions, programs, and processes are aligned with Zeidler’s culture and beliefs, focusing on ED&I, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • Develop programs that promote a culture of respect, diversity, equality, and inclusion.
  • Partner with the Brand Strategy Director on initiatives and projects


Talent Management and Talent Acquisition

  • Overall responsibility for talent management strategy, programs, and initiatives, including talent strategy and planning, talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, and succession planning.
  • Develop and direct the national talent acquisition strategy, identifying and targeting top talent for Zeidler's studios.
  • Responsible for onboarding and orientation processes that align with business goals to set employees up for success.
  • Partner with the business to identify training gaps and develop succession planning strategies.
  • Develop strategies to improve employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention
  • Conduct employee surveys, gathering feedback to assess and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create, develop, and promote diversity programs.
  • Undertake and participate in industry-specific market research and compensation surveys.


Compliance and Governance

  • Implement and administer the Federal Contractors Program requirements, including job evaluations, grading and all other related duties.
  • Oversight of AODA requirements and reporting.
  • Oversight of federal and provincial legislation changes and related policies and processes.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Overall management of total rewards, including management of pay equity initiatives
  • Oversight of Zeidler’s group benefit plan and EFAP


Health and Safety

  • Implementation and administration of health and safety programs, including co-chairing the Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Management of workplace investigations, making informed recommendations


What You Will Bring

  • 10+ years’ experience in progressive Human Resources roles focusing on talent management, HR strategies, workplace culture and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Post Secondary Diploma in Human Resources. CPHR, CHRL, RPR etc. is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and compliance across AB, ON and BC.
  • Experience in employee relations, compensation & benefits, talent management, learning and development, health and safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic HR initiatives.
  • Expertise in HR software and systems.
  • Must be able to travel 6-8 times per year for up to 4-5 days across Canada.
