Job Description

Our esteemed client, a global leader in pharmaceutical innovation, is seeking a talented and driven Translational Medicine, Associate Scientist I to join their Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) team in South San Francisco.


Title: Translational Research Scientist I

Pay: $50-53/hr

Location: South San Francisco, California (Fully ONSITE)

Contract Length: 1 year (Potential to extend or be brought on)


As part of the multi-disciplinary DMPK group, you will play a key role in advancing therapeutic programs in areas such as immunology, oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic diseases, and ophthalmology. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to work on innovative projects, contributing to the development of next-generation therapies.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilize LC-MS technologies to support preclinical development of next-generation biologics, ADCs, and small molecules.
  • Conduct biotransformation investigations for biologics and ADCs.
  • Perform small molecule bioanalysis of in vivo pharmacokinetic (PK) samples.
  • Prepare and analyze samples for in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies.
  • Support PK studies and supervise LC-MS lab operations, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and housekeeping.


Education:

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline with 0–2 years of experience.
  • MS/BS degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience.


Required Skills:

  • Expertise with LC-MS technologies.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting HPLC and mass spectrometers.
  • Proficiency in protein/peptide identification, quantitation, and characterization using mass spectrometry.
  • Strong motivation, results-oriented mindset, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of bioanalytical techniques is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with automation instruments like Assaymap and Hamilton.
  • Familiarity with Watson LIMS, Sciex Triple Quads, and MultiQuant (preferred but not required).
  • Prior experience in drug discovery and development.
  • Adaptable, with high learning agility and comfort in taking calculated risks.
