Job Title : Histo Technologist

Location : Charlotte, NC

Schedule : Full-time, Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Job Summary :

The Histo Technologist is responsible for performing histology benchwork, including specimen accessioning, preparing frozen sections, assisting in gross specimen examination, and preparing fixed tissue specimens for microscopic examination. This position also involves cutting, mounting, and staining tissue sections, as well as performing routine, special, and immunohistochemically stains to aid in diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities :

• Prepare and stain frozen sections and perform routine histology procedures.
• Assist with gross specimen examination and prepare tissue specimens for pathologist review.
• Perform special and immunohistochemically staining as required.
• Ensure specimens are processed accurately, and manage storage and disposal of slides and blocks.
• Assist with autopsies and maintain accurate lab records and specimen inventories.
• Perform quality control checks on equipment and reagents.

Qualifications :

• Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histotechnologist, Clinical Laboratory (HTL) through ASCP, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
• At least 1 year of experience in histology or 3 years of experience as an uncertified HT.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including microtomy and tissue embedding.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
